How to Use the Awlgrip Paint Mix Calculator

Awlgrip topcoats require precise mixing of base, converter, and reducer. Wrong ratios cause poor adhesion, slow cure, or a cloudy finish. This calculator gives you the exact amounts for your batch size.

1. Select measurement system — Imperial (ft², oz, qt, gal) or Metric (m², mL, L).
2. Select your product line — Awlcraft 2000/3000 Topcoat, Awlgrip Topcoat, 545 Epoxy Primer, Awlcraft SE Basecoat, or Awlgrip HDT Clear. Choosing Awlcraft 2000/3000 adds two controls to this card: a reducer percentage slider (15–33%) and a Pro-Cure accelerator choice.
3. Enter your coating amount — Give a single area or volume figure, or enter length × width and let the calculator work out the area. Set your input units and the units you want results in.
4. Choose an application method — Spray or Roll/Brush, in the same card. Awlcraft 2000/3000, Awlcraft SE and HDT Clear are spray-only, so Roll/Brush is disabled for those.
5. Read the result — Exact base, converter and reducer amounts, with the AkzoNobel part number for each. Results update as you type.

Key facts

• Reducer is per-product, not one number: Awlgrip Topcoat 25% spraying / 20% rolling; Awlcraft 2000/3000 anywhere from 15–33%, which you set yourself; 545 Primer 25% spraying / 10% rolling; Awlcraft SE a fixed 50%.
• Spray and brush use different converters: Awlgrip Topcoat takes Awlcat #2 (G3010) for spray and Awlcat #3 (H3002) Brushing Converter for roll/brush — two separate products, not one at a different ratio.
• Picking a reducer: T0001 Fast, T0002 Very Fast, T0003 Standard, T0005 Hot Weather for spraying; T0031 Brushing Reducer for roll and brush work.
• Accelerator, Awlcraft 2000/3000 only: Pro-Cure X-98 and X-138 are both approved for this line. X-98 cures faster on a shorter working window; X-138 gives you more time. Never use either above 85°F, and X-98 not above 75°F.
